Lake Tahoe has so much to offer, but some of the best places aren't well known to many. Here we will reveal a few of South Lake Tahoe's hidden gems.
Lira's Market Deli: When you are coming down the grade on Highway 50 entering Tahoe, the first town you will come across is little Meyers. On the right hand side of the main road is Lira's Market. Inside you will find a simple looking deli, but let me tell you, there's nothing simple about their sandwiches. The Tri-Tip sandwich is packed with meat and flavor, and all their specialties are to die for. The best part? No wait! This little hidden spot is perfect for grabbing a bite on your way to or from the lake.
Glen Alpine Creek and Falls: A beautiful view with no hike. The Glen Alpine Creek and Falls is just past Fallen Leaf Lake on the way to the Glen Alpine trailhead. Park your car and get up close and personal with the falls. If you're feeling adventurous, hike up the creek a bit for some even more secluded, and beautiful spots.
Verdes: If you're looking for an amazing burrito, Verde's always hits the spot. Originally in little Meyers, it's new location is right near the Y in South Lake Tahoe.
Twin Peaks and the Sand Pit: Many people don't realize that there is actually a dirt bike track and four wheeling spot right at the outskirts of town. The Sand Pit offers a great track and jumps for dirt bike enthusiasts, and the trails lead to some amazing views.
Desolation Wilderness: If you're really wanting to escape the crowds and get in touch with the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe, hike into Desolation Wilderness! I mean, if that name doesn't say it then I don't know what does. Make sure you do your research for this one.
Winter blues got you down? Escape to the desert for some vitamin D and vitamin me!
